Vlaams Belang MP to chair Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs

Vlaams Belang MP Ortwin Depoortere will be chairing the Home Affairs Committee in parliament, a position previously held by a member of the N-VA, it was learned by Belga on Wednesday.

In that capacity, Depoortere intends to convene the committee in the first week of the new parliament in order to question the minister for current affairs, Pieter De Crem (CD&V), concerning recent incidents reported in public swimming pools in the north of the country.

The extreme right party, as the 4th largest group in parliament behind the N-VA, Ecolo-Groen and the PS, has secured the right to chair a committee.
