Brussels West police zone announced the seizure of over 77 kg of drugs and 180 judicial arrests in the first half of 2023 in a press release on Monday.

In terms of seizures, the police covering the municipalities of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, Ganshoren, Jette, Koekelberg and Molenbeek-Saint-Jean got their hands on 9.7 kg of heroin, 62 kg of cannabis, 3,407 cannabis plants, 5.5 kg of cocaine, 482 ecstasy pills and €225,153 during the first six months of the year. Mobile phones, vehicles and technical equipment for cannabis plantations were also seized.

During the 191 raids on known hiding places where drug dealers store their goods (flower boxes, dustbins, wheel arches, etc.), the five sniffer dogs in the area discovered 34.07 g of heroin, 6.72 g of cocaine and 5,940 g of 'soft' drugs.

There were 180 judicial arrests in connection with drugs cases, including 40 suspects released after a hearing. A total of 91 suspects were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor and released, while four suspects were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor and received a summons.

Finally, 43 suspects were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office and placed under arrest warrants.
