Heavy gusts of wind are expected to hit Belgium on Sunday night until Monday afternoon. As a precaution, Brussels has closed its parks and green spaces.
The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) issued a yellow wind gust warning, effective from 23:00 on Sunday evening until 13:00 on Monday, for the whole country, excluding the Luxembourg province.
"This evening and tonight the wind will strengthen and become strong inland and very strong at sea with gusts between 80 and 90 km/h (or very locally a little more)," it wrote on its website. "Monday afternoon it will decrease in strength and gusts between 50 and 60 km/h are still possible."
In response to the code yellow that has been issued, Brussels Environment confirmed in a statement that all Brussels parks, gardens, and regional forests, along with Forêt de Soignes (Sonian Forest) car parks, are to be closed to the public from 18:00 on Sunday.
The access restrictions will be lifted on Monday afternoon at a time to be specified, based on the weather forecasts. The Brussels agency recommends avoiding all regional green spaces, particularly near trees.

On Monday, the wind will calm down slightly and a new rain zone will reach Belgium from the west. Later in the day, the skies will open above both Low and Central Belgium, while in the south it will likely remain cloudy and rainy all day.
Temperatures will be slightly warmer than in the past weeks, with 5 and 9°C south of Sambre and Meuse and 10 or 11°C elsewhere.
Tuesday morning will be sunny in many places with high cloud cover. Winds will again be moderate from the southwest, increasing to moderate and strong at sea where gusts of up to about 60 km/h are possible.
