Three hundred and fifty speeding tickets were issued between Saturday and Sunday in the Madou tunnel, heading towards South Station. Fifty-six percent of the vehicles inspected were in violation of the average speed limit which is 54km / h instead of 40km / h, stated prosecutors in Brussels, on Tuesday. Ten drivers had their licenses immediately suspended.
Of the ten, one was driving at 102km/h and was seemingly under the influence while another was speeding while carrying outdated insurance and registration papers. As a result, the vehicle was towed. During this operation, 350 tickets and suspensions were issued.
Three of these tickets, amounting to a total of 760 euros, involved non-Belgian residents.
