The explosives that were prepared to carry out the attack on the European Commission in Brussels were ready to be used, according to newspaper “Het Laatste Nieuws”. According to the Flemish newspaper that cites an anonymous source, searches carried out in the appartment that the Dutch couple with Turkish origin stayed at in Brussels revealed among others firearms and ammunitions, as well as explosive devices ready to be used.
Moreover, Belgians could also have been involved in the preparation of the attack, Het Laatste Nieuws explains. One of the suspects still sought after by the police and who appears to have left for Syria, seems to have maintained contacts with the organization Sharia4Belgium, in particular in Kortrijk and Mechelen.
