New driving test for Brussels residents

The Brussels Secretary of State in charge of Road Safety, Bianca Debaets (CD & V) plans to introduce a new driving test driving. Starting 2015, Brussels will have to pass a test of risk perception in the theoretical examination, reported Le Soir and De Standaard on Friday. Road safety is one of the matters which have been regionalized after the sixth state reform.

In the Brussels region, State Secretary Bianca Debaets wants candidates to pass a risk perception test in order to obtain their license. They will be made to watch a forty second video on the computer and identify any risks that they notice. Currently, "the examination centers are already testing the system on a voluntary basis," said Bianca Debaets.

The Brussels-Capital area will be the first to implement this new test, but the terms have yet to be determined.
