Eric De Keuleneer elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ULB

On Monday, Eric De Keuleneer was unanimously voted the new president of the Board of Directors of the Free University of Brussels (ULB), said the University in a statement. He succeeds Alain Delchambre, who resigned last Monday due to plagiarism in his  September 19th speech. Many passages of the text matched a speech given by Jacques Chirac in 2003 word for word. Following the termination of the employee responsible for the plagiarism, Alain Delchambre decided to retire, "aware of the negative image which now tarnishes the University both internally and externally.”

On Monday, the Board of the university took note of the resignation of Alain Delchambre and elected a new president. Eric De Keuleneer takes office immediately and will continue the term of his predecessor until December 31st, 2015, says the university. The new president has served for several years on the ULB Board of Directors and is a part-time professor at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management.

The Board also expressed its deep gratitude to Alain Delchambre for the dedication he has shown the institution by resigning, added the University.
