The terrorism trial for the small Islamic group Sharia4Belgium started again at the beginning of Monday afternoon in front of the Anvers Correctional Tribunal. The Public Prosecutor has the floor to respond to pleas from the defence, on this sixth day of the trial. 46 accused are charged with having lead or taken part in terrorist activities. The Public Prosecutor requested the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison for the main leaders of the group, among them Fouad Belkacem. 5 years was requested for most of the other members of the group. Only around 9 accused were present during the trail, the others are in Syria or have since died.
The trial is protected by important security measures which were reinforced on Monday. As well as identification checks and metal detectors, there are now personal searches.
