Around 20 luxury cars with German number plates seized in Brussels

Around 20 luxury cars with German number plates have been seized in Brussels as part of several cases being handled by the Finance section of the Brussels Prosecutors Office. These consist of financial crimes including money laundering, fraud, fiscal fraud and fraudulent bankruptcy, the Brussels Prosecutors Office said, confirming information printed in the tabloid La Dernière Heure. According to them, the seized cars were being driven by drugs traffickers and pimps. The vehicles were seized during the last 12 months. They were all registered in Germany and offered exclusively for rent in Belgium.

According to La Dernière Heure, the Belgian firms that rented these luxury cars did not pay registration tax or road tax. The State lost several million euros. This kind of operation is not limited to Brussels and occurs in other big Belgian towns.
