The Hal-Vilvorde Prosecutor’s Office has drafted in an expert to determine the cause of a serious fire at Drogenbos on Sunday morning, which damaged 3,000 square meters of a warehouse storing subaquatic equipment. The cause of the incident is as yet unknown, says the Prosecutor’s Office. The fire started on Sunday morning in the warehouse belonging to the diving equipment store Globe Marine, located in the rue Bollinckx, on the border between Drogenbos and Anderlecht. The warehouse contained bottles of gas and compressed air as well as neoprene goods. Between 40 and 50 Brussels fire fighters went to the scene, and teams of firemen from Hal were called in as reinforcements.

The fire had been mostly put out by Monday morning.

There were no casualties but heavy damage as 3,000 square meters of the warehouse was destroyed by the flames. The roof of the building collapsed completely. Demolition and dismantling De Meuter equipment belonging to the company was used to clear the interior of the site and remove the debris.
