Rue Belliard remained closed to traffic just before 4:00pm on Tuesday, due to the protest organised by Brussels taxis against the plan proposed by Pascal Smet, Brussels minister for Mobility, warned local police. Traffic was slow as well on the inner ring road between Porte de Namur and Place Madou.

The Joyeuse tunnel was re-opened towards the city centre, adds the police force, whereas the Reyers tunnel was still closed in the same direction.

Public transport was also affected by the protest. Between 600 and 650 taxis according to the police, and over 1,000 taxis according to the organisers, assembled at approximately 12:40pm at the Schuman roundabout in Brussels on Tuesday. The convoy left Gare du Nord at approximately 10:30am, and was organised in protest of the Taxi Plan of minister Pascal Smet, and the expansion of Uber.
