Huge crowds expected in Brussels for Gay Pride on Saturday

"Belgian Pride", better known as "Gay Pride", is set to take place in Brussels for the 20th time, this Saturday. Brussels Capital-Ixelles police has put out a warning that there will be a lot of traffic on the roads and advises people to avoid driving into the town centre. This year, the itinerary the parade will take is slightly different to previous years. The procession will set off from Place de la Bourse at 2.30pm and travel via Boulevard Anspach, Rue des Teinturiers, Rue du Midi, Rue des Alexiens, Boulevard de l'Empereur, Rue Cantersteen, Rue de Loksum, Rue d'Arenberg/Ecuyer and Rue de l'Evêque and finally back to Boulevard Anspach and Place de la Bourse.

Traffic will be temporarily blocked off along the route as the procession passes. Boulevard Anspach will, however, remain closed to traffic from 10:00pm to midnight, which is why the police expect traffic to be heavy and slow-moving.
