First Benelux NH Collection hotel opens in Brussels

The first NH Collection hotel belonging to Spanish hotel group NH Hotel Group in Benelux was officially opened in Brussels on Thursday in the presence of Spanish Ambassador Ignacio Matellanes Martinez, and of Brussels Alderman in charge of Tourism Philippe Close. The 241 rooms and other areas of the former NH Atlanta Brussels on Boulevard Adolphe Max were completely renovated at a cost of some 4 million euros.

The group currently has 47 hotels in the high-end NH Collection range worldwide. 3 more hotels will soon join them in Amsterdam, and the NH Brussels Grand Sablon will become the second NH Collection hotel in Brussels in 2017. Major refurbishment work is to begin next year. The hotel group is following a 5-year investment plan which should result in the number of NH Collection hotels rising from approximately 20 in 2014 (25 this year) to 70 in 2017.

According to Alain Bouchat, Manager of NH Collection Brussels Centre, opening the NH Collection establishment in Brussels allowed the group to recruit 10% more staff, and there are 65 employees at the hotel itself. 25 more work in a separate building, for the central booking office and for general administration in Belgium.

NH Hotel Group has 11 hotels in Belgium, 7 of which are in Brussels, 2 in Ghent, 1 in Bruges and 1 in Mechelen. It is currently trying to enter the Antwerp market.

Worldwide, NH Hotel Group manages almost 400 hotels in 29 countries across Europe, Africa and The Americas. The hotel chain employs over 20,000 people and accommodates 16 million clients each year.
