Brussels police expecting heavy traffic around Heysel on Friday

The match between the Red Devils and Italy scheduled at the Roi Badouin stadium, an André Rieu concert at Palais 12 and a Bouglione Circus show in Laeken Park all mean that traffic will be extremely heavy around Heysel on Friday evening, warned Bruxelles-Capitale-Ixelles police on Tuesday.

Various roads may be closed to traffic during the course of the evening: Avenue Houba de Strooper, Avenue de l'Impératrice Charlotte and Avenue des Magnolias. Public transport (buses) may be allowed to travel in the area, where possible, but Laeken Park is likely to be extremely congested, if not inaccessible to traffic.

In light of roadworks on Chaussée Romaine, drivers are advised to access carpark C from the ringroad. The best solution, however, is to avoid driving in the Heysel area wherever possible, say police. The metro and other forms of public transport will be running as usual.
