Man who drove into police presence in Molenbeek last Sunday, not yet heard by police

A twenty-year old man deliberately drove into police presence last Sunday night, Rue Ransfort in Molenbeek, but has not yet been heard by the police. During the anti-terrorist operation, the man drove into police presence and got hit by a bullet from the police. Because of his state of health, he could not be heard yet, announced the prosecutor of Brussels on Monday.

The suspect, originating from Vilvorde, has been intercepted in Brussels shortly after the incident and arrested for armed rebellion. He was then transferred to the hospital, but could not be heard, as he is slightly wounded to the arm.

The prosecutor has requested a bench warrant so that the man could be heard as fast as possible and referred to the courts. In total, sixteen people have been arrested during the actions taken in several communes of the capital as well as in Charleroi. About twenty police searches have taken place on Sunday night, but no weapons or explosives have been found.
