A Brussels police officer suspected of retaining pedopornographic material has been detained

Mr. V a police officer from the Brussels region was taken to custody the 19th of June for possession and distribution of pedopornographic material. He has again been arrested for violating his conditions during the investigation and for new paedophilic discoveries, indicated the magistrate of Brussels.

According to the daily Belgian newspaper “la Dernière Heure”, the man did not respect his conditions while he remained outside of custudy which included a prohibition to frequent youngsters and minor aged. It was for example found that he was planning to prepare a a photo session trip with a group of children and the discovery of pictures in his laptop where the group had already been photographed in positions with sexual connotations.

The investigation of this case started a bit over a year ago following a lead from the US. The prosecution then opened a file following the identification of the suspect.

In December 2014, the prosecution requested a judge to analyse the file which contained evidence of possession, diffusion and production of pedopornographic material. Following the file further investigations have been carried out, including the hearing of Mr. “V” and a search in his home. The man was arrested 19 June 2015 and he was later released on parole in August before finally being detained again.
