Terrorist threat – Six people arrested in Brussels Thursday morning

Seven raids have been carried out Thursday morning in Molenbeek, Anderlecht, Laeken and Leeuw saint Pierre. The raids followed information on security threats which aimed to target symbolic spots in Brussels region. As a result of the raids, six persons were arrested and taken for hearings, indicated the federal prosecutor on Thursday.

The investigator will decide during the day if there will be a mandate to keep them further.

During the raids, the police seized several objects, notably telephones and computer hardware which are all under analysis. No further information will be released for now concerning the arrests.

The New Year's Eve fireworks has been cancelled and more than 10 000 projectiles and 100 kg of confetti have been removed by Fx3, the organisation in charge of the nine and half minute scheduled show.
