The Flemish government gives the green light for the UPlace shopping centre

The Flemish government gave the green light to plans for the huge UPlace shopping centre in Machelen (Flemish Brabant), North Brussels, on Friday.

The UPlace project has suffered a few setbacks since 2009, due to appeals against the permits. The complex should open in 2018, under the Vilvorde viaduct. The issues of transport and competition with existing projects, especially in Brussels, have created tension.
