The French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, on Wednesday stated that he considered there is “an urgency to strengthen European borders with [non-EU] countries.” This comes the day after the deadly attacks in Brussels.

“There is an urgency to adopt the PNR – Passenger Name Record system (the proposed European directive on personal data for air passengers, editor’s note). Furthermore, there is an urgency to strengthen non-EU borders…there is now a great urgency to ensure that nobody is able to enter the EU with false documents, given that we know that Daesh has stolen large quantities of passports in Syria,” he said on the radio station Europe 1.
