Brussels attacks: No victim identified with certainty

None of the people killed in the attacks on Tuesday has yet been identified with certainty. This announced on Wednesday Ine Van Wymersch, spokesperson for the prosecutor in Brussels, for the TV channel VTM.

“The priority now is to care for the survivors and the injured. Investigations are still on-going on the bomb scenes,” she said.

“The identification team is doing everything in its power to work as quickly as possible. But when you tell someone that a loved-one is dead you must be absolutely sure,” Van Wymersch said. “This is only possible on the basis of scientific evidence.”

Four victims are known but their bodies have yet to be formally identified. Many people are therefore forced to live in limbo more than a day and a half after the killings. "We cannot yet give any answers but we provide support as the best as we can," she concluded.
