Brussels attacks: Resignation of Belgian interior minister refused by the Prime Minister

The Belgian minister of interior affairs, Jan Jambon, offered his resignation yesterday. This was confirmed by his office following information provided by the TV channel VTM.

VTM claims that Jambom has made this gesture because of alleged mismanagement of the investigation of the terror attacks in Brussels. However, Prime Minister Charles Michel refused to accept his resignation.

“It’s important to close ranks” in this difficult period, according to VTM.

The inner minister committee met on Thursday to consider the file of Ibrahim El Bakraoui whose expulsion from Turkey in summer 2015 had been communicated to the Belgian authorities according to Turkey’s president Erdogan.
