Belgian police announce speed limit controls on Wednesday

Federal and local police will carry out speed controls on motorways and secondary roads across the country. The controls will start on Wednesday morning (20 April) at 6 am and last for 24 hours.

At the initiative of the federal traffic police and the Walloon region, more than 110 local police districts will participate in these “marathon” controls, using fixed and mobile radar.

"The police hope that during this action, but also afterwards, drivers will respect the speed limits and that few fines will have to be charged to drivers exceeding the limits. A change in driver behavior will have a positive impact on road security and result in a reduction in the number of accidents and therefore victims,” added the federal police.

The results of the traffic controls will be reported on 21 April.
