The government has invested 400 million in security this year

On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo rejected criticism from the SP presidents, who think not enough is being done for security. Mr De Croo said that 100 million was invested last year, and 400 million was invested this year.

“The previous government (when the SP shared power with the Liberals and the Christian Democrats) didn’t do that”, Mr De Croo said on VTM on Sunday afternoon.

As far as criticism of the Flemish Socialist’s project to buy combat planes goes, the Flemish Liberal said it was necessary to invest in security at home as well as abroad.

“It’s not one or another. We have a role to play at home, but also with the rest of the world. What happens in our country also depends on what happens in the rest of the world”, he said.
