A majority of employees in Belgium cannot work from home

Only about 12% have the opportunity to work occasionally at home. According to figures released by SPF Economie and reported by Het Nieuwsblad, De Standaard and Gazet van Antwerpen on Monday (2 May), blue-collar workers and less skilled employees have mostly never the opportunity to work at home.

Distant work from home relates mainly to graduated office employees: one quarter of them sometimes or mainly works at home.

"Working from home is steadily rising," said the SPF. "Twenty years ago barely 5% of all employees were working at home. The figures have almost tripled since then."

Staff on managerial and senior levels particularly benefit from working at home: 44% of them against only 1 to 2% of workers in general.
