Brussels attacks - one man injured at Maelbeek takes STIB to court

One male victim of the attack which struck the Maelbeek metro station on March 22nd is taking STIB to court. So reports La Dernière Heure today (Wednesday). The hearing is fixed for May 26th.

Jean-Paul Tieleman, the claimant's barrister, says that the compensation procedure anticipated for victims, gives a committee the task of determining the percentages which insurers should bear responsibility for. Thus this system alone does not guarantee appropriate redress for his client.

Consequently, he is making a claim against STIB in court, by invoking the law of 21st October 1989 relating to motor vehicle compulsory insurance liability.

Mr Tieleman states that four other victims will shortly be joined in proceedings as well.
