During the UEFA European Championship, Euro 2016, the sale of alcohol will be strictly prohibited from 23pm to 7 am in retail stores in the capital center. The area includes places that tend to attract football supporters, such as Grand Place, De Brouckère, the Bourse, Place Fontainas, and Saint-Géry.
The municipal council of the City of Brussels issued a decree on Monday (23 May) to this effect. The ban will last from 10 June to 10 July.
Shop keepers are required to advertise the text of the regulation. Non-compliance will result in an administrative fine of up to 350 euro. They might also lose their business permit.
