Unsafe trains between Brussels and Antwerp?

The new transport minister François Bellot does not blame his predecessor Jacqueline Galant for the safety of the trains. De Morgen wrote on Thursday (9 June) that SNCB still runs unsafe trains between Antwerp and Brussels.

The new trains replaced those in the so-called Fyra project, a high-speed rail service connecting Brussels to Amsterdam, which was cancelled because of safety concerns and technical problems.

The spokesperson in the ministry confirmed that a decision has been taken “transparently” to grant derogation from safety principles "after consultation with all partners in the federal government."

The decision was taken by the previous transport minister, according to the spokesperson.
