Flemish community day attracted 11 000 visitors in Brussels

Organizers are very satisfied. The fourth edition of Brussel Danst, the dance and performance festival organized by the Flemish community, drew 11 000 people to Place de la Monnaie in Brussels on Monday (11 July).

The audience was smaller than last year when the festival attracted a record number of 14 000 in the capital.

The organizers are however satisfied. "We are very happy. It's amazing that even on a Monday, Brussel Danst had such a success," commented Eva Drees, the spokesperson for Muntpunt, the organizer of the festival.

During Monday afternoon, a "battle” of dances took place under the watchful eye of an international jury. Several shows were also shown in various parts of the city center. Fourteen Flemish musicians paid particular tribute to singer Claude François under the direction of musicians Pascal Deweze and Nicolas Rombouts.

Quest of honor was the presenter and singer Bart Peeters who closed the festivities with a Flemish repertoire on Grand Place.
