Brussels attacks: the Prosecutor’s office says Salah Abdeslam will likely be charged for the Brussels attacks

Belgium is probably preparing to charge Salah Abdeslam on suspicion of organising the Brussels attacks. This information was revealed by the French magazine L’Obs on Friday evening, and Le Soir reported on it on Saturday. The Brussels Prosecutor’s office cannot charge him or confirm whether they will yet.

L’Obs claims the information came from a judicial source. The last surviving suspect of the 13th of November attacks in Paris, Salah Abdeslam was arrested in Brussels on the 18th of March. He was extradited to France on the 27th of April.

In the article, Le Soir says the European arrest warrant was issued before the Brussels attacks.  As yet, Belgium is only charging him for the terrorist attacks in Paris. The suspicions about his involvement in organising the Brussels attacks have not yet lead to additional charges.

Le Soir adds that he is charged with being a co-organiser, and assisting the Brussels terrorists. Two detonators were found in his hideout in Forest. Le Soir says this means he will definitely be charged.
