The Islamic State threatens Belgian military

“We take it very seriously” La Dernière Heure and Het Laatste Nieuws reported on Wednesday (28 September) that a leading French jihadist named Rashid Kassim from the Islamic State has released a list of Belgian soldiers to 300 contact persons via Telegram Messenger.

A spokesperson for the Belgian defense ministry confirmed that an investigation is ongoing: “We take it very seriously and the army military intelligence service is monitoring it closely.”

In his message called "command to the brothers in Belgium," Rashid Kassim provided photographs of several military personnel and information about them collected from social networks.

Kassim is at the centre of French anti-terrorist investigations and appears in propaganda from the Islamic State. He is thought to have had contact via social media with several  young suspects.
