Some 30,000 Belgians subject to enforced recovery due to unpaid fines

The Treasury is trying to collect half a billion euros from people fined between 2012 and 2015 In the last five months, the tax authorities have recovered an amount of 5.7 million euros from about 30,000 people. "This is ten times more than last year," says Francis Adyns, spokesperson of the Federal Public Finance Service.

On a daily basis, some 200 Belgians have the unpaid fines deducted from their salaries, Mediahuis reported on Thursday (17 November).
