The Wallonia-Brussels Federation adopted a decree that would allocate an extra 20 million euros to create spaces in schools in demographically struggling areas on Friday. This is according to a press release from the Education Minister Marie-Martine Schyns. The money will be included in the 2018 budget.
Project proposals for all the networks will be put in place to create more spaces.
“By creating a structural model based on objective needs, with long-term financing and regular new project proposals, the government will be able to respond to needs as they arise. Rushed emergency plans will be a thing of the past”, the press release says.
The government has adopted a clause to reinforce an occupation rate for schools in demographically struggling areas and less popular areas. There was also a clause to optimise the use of school’s surface area.
