A cyclist was very seriously injured during a road traffic accident which took place yesterday (Tuesday) around 6 p.m. on Place Meiser in Schaerbeek. She was hit by a lorry, the driver of which wished to turn from Place Meiser into the Chaussée de Louvain, in the Saint-Josse-Ten-Noode direction.
The cyclist, who unfortunately was in a critical condition, was taken to hospital.
In his initial statement, the lorry driver explained that he had not seen the victim.
This was indicated yesterday (Tuesday) by a spokesman for the North police zone (which covers Schaerbeek, Evere and Saint-Josse-Ten-Noode).
The local police set up a security perimeter at the scene of the accident.
A haulage expert, designated by the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office, is expected to attend at the scene.
