Wednesday, 24 May 2017
There is a heavy police presence around “The Hotel” in Brussels where many from the US delegation will be staying and Waterloo Avenue is currently sealed off between Porte de Namur and the Louise Square. Donald Trump, in Brussels to meet Belgian and European counterparties and attend a NATO summit, might need to stay in the residence of the US Embassy. However, the rest of his delegation are likely to stay at The Hotel. The famous luxury hotel was also the choice of former US President Barack Obama during visits to Brussels.
The exact arrival of the delegation to The Hotel is uncertain, but a large security perimeter around the building has been established. Many police cars are present, including a helicopter flying above the area.
The two metro stations close to the hotel, Louise and Porte de Namur, are also affected by enhanced security measures.
