Disposed Catalan President Carles Puigdemont is said to be in Brussels this Monday, states El Periodico, which specifies that Mr. Puigdemont would have come to the Belgian capital to meet with Flemish politicians. The Spanish Government affirms not to be worried about Carles Puigdemont’s trip.
A bit earlier on Monday, the Public Prosecutor of the Spanish State had announced that he had filed charges, notably of “rebellion,” against the dismissed members of the Catalan Government, who are accused of having provoked the institutional crisis that led to a declaration of independence.
Last weekend, a fair amount of turmoil arose following the declaration of State Secretary for Asylum and Migration, Mr. Francken, which stated that Mr. Puigdemont could, if he so wished, file a request for asylum in Belgium.
