Brussels riots: suspect arrested for questioning and released following hearing
Despite releasing one suspect, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office is committed to finding all perpetrators of the riots and other related crimes, which may have occurred on Saturday night.

The police succeeded in identifying a suspect, following the riots which broke out in the centre of Brussels on Saturday evening. However the individual was released after the hearing took place. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated on Sunday evening that there was insufficient evidence either to prosecute the individual immediately, or to justify the request for a potential arrest warrant.

It indicated on Sunday in a communiqué, “The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office is committed to prosecuting suspects identified, who might be linked to these riots or other related criminal damage.”

The Prosecutor’s Office went on, “The local police in the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles region have instigated a legal taskforce. This initiative has been taken in direct collaboration with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, with the aim of identifying the perpetrators of these crimes as quickly as possible.”
