Fundraising for showers for migrants in Brussels

The Citizen Refugee Support Platform launched a crowdfunding appeal for € 9,500 on its Facebook page on Monday. The amount will cover the installation costs of sixteen showers for a period of four months in a building in the Haren neighborhood in Brussels.

The building is currently rented by the City of Brussels and made available to associations willing to organize the reception of migrants during the winter.

"We launched this appeal because the Brussels-Capital Region didn’t respond to our request for more resources,” said Mehdi Kassou, spokesperson for the Citizen Refugee Support Platform.

In late September, minister-president Rudi Vervoort announced that 500,000 euros would be released for the management of undocumented migrants from Maximilian Park.

"In two hours, we have already been able to collect 7,000 euros and therefore expect to reach the full amount by the end of the day," Kassou said.
