New Year: RYD brought 260 revellers back home in Brussels and Wallonia

During New Year’s Eve night, Responsible Young Drivers (RYD) brought home 260 revellers as well as 88 cars, in Brussels and Wallonia. This was according to an assessment on Monday morning. Some 55 young drivers - a slightly lower number compared to last year - had 22 vehicles, which were available to the population from midnight onwards. This enabled revellers to return home safely.

The RYD stressed in a communiqué, “The young volunteers from Responsible Young Drivers were not the only ones last night to offer their services to the population. There were also other systems such as taxis and public transport. The aim of the RYD system was not to drive the whole of Belgium home, but to be there as a last resort, when no other solution was available for people.”

The RYD organisation said that the 26th new year offering the service to return people home had been a “great success” which was also trouble-free.
