Brussels: Stormy winds expected – parks, woods, forests closed

Green areas in the Brussels Region are closed to the public tonight and throughout Wednesday for safety reasons, Bruxelles Environment has announced. Wind gusts between 80 km/h and 120 km/h are expected from tonight (Tuesday night) onward. The Brussels environmental management institution has recommended avoiding parks, forests and woods in the Region from Tuesday at 6 p.m. to Thursday 4 January. Access to these areas will be prohibited during those hours and, since they do not have closing systems, warnings will be placed at their entrances. Park attendants and forest wardens will be on hand to inform the public.

These areas are scheduled to be reopened on Thursday morning, after they are inspected, cleaned and made safe again. Bruxelles Environnement also advises everyone to avoid being close to trees.
