Brussels business leaders have never been so dissatisfied with transport both in and around the capital. This emerges from the latest survey by the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and Brussels Business Federation (known as “BECI”). This is reported by La Libre Belgique and La Dernière Heure on Friday.
No less than 87% of Brussels employers responded to the online survey (there being some 500 responses between November 23rd and December 4th), This proportion consider that transport both in and around Brussels has worsened (this compares to a figure of 76.6% in July). A very small percentage consider that the situation has improved, with 10% seeing no change. Moreover, 68% find that the transport policy conducted by the Brussels government is “not at all satisfying” (compared to 57.3% during the last survey).
Ischa Lambrechts, Transport Advisor for BECI, says, “There have now been four successive surveys in which transport issues have been the prime concern for Brussels businesses.” He goes on, “Generally each time the degree of dissatisfaction has climbed by one or two percent. At the time of this most recent survey the level of dissatisfaction increased by 10%. This has never been seen before. For Brussels businesses, this is therefore a very high priority issue.”
