Manneken Pis dons customs officer’s uniform
The public can admire the new outfit for the first time today.

Manneken Pis’s wardrobe was further extended on Friday with a new custom’s officer’s outfit. He already has such an outfit, but the previous one was the former style in green khaki. He has been given a new blue uniform, which will be his 998th costume.

The costume presentation ceremony took place in the Brussels Hôtel de Ville (city hall), as part of World Customs Day. Present at the ceremony were Belgian Customs officers, the World Customs Organisation, the Brussels Alderwomen for Culture and Folklore, Karine Lalieux, and the Finance Minister, Johan Van Overtveldt. The outfit is a present from the Customs and Excise Administration department, part of the FPS Finance.

The public will be able to admire the new outfit for the first time this Friday on Belgium’s most famous statue. Although he will next receive the 999th costume, the 1,000th outfit will also be presented to Manneken Pis this year.
