The Refugees Citizen Support Platform, “Bruxellois of the year” all categories

The Refugees Citizen Support Platform has been awarded the “Bruxellois of the year 2017” trophy, all categories, during a ceremony led by Sara De Paduwa, and organized by Vlan Brussels, Le Soir, BX1, in collaboration with Viva Brussels. Earlier in the evening, the citizens’ initiative had been rewarded in the “Society” category.

In addition to the Platform, Molenbeek’s Amal Amjahid, Belgium’s double gold medal in jujitsu at the Wroclaw World games last July, was distinguished in the “Sports” category, while the president of DéFI, Olivier Maingain, was awarded in the “Politics” section, the incubator of start-ups and training center “MolenGeek” in “Economy,” and the royal theater La Monnaie in “Culture”.

“This election’s special aim is to show the value of women and men who, in their area and by their action, have contributed to the reputation of the Brussels-Capital Region,” explain the organizers, who invite citizens to vote for their favorite celebrities every year.

“During the last 20 years, celebrities from all spheres have been awarded the ‘Bruxellois of the year trophy: Charles Picqué, three times (92, 93 and 94); Annie Cordy (2001); Nabela Benaïssa (1996); Pascal Vrebos (1994); Franky Vercauteren (2006); Philippe Geluck (2008); Stromae (2010); the Borlee Brothers (2011); etc. the organizers specify.
