Warnings for ice on roads Friday afternoon

A wave of winter rainfall will cross Belgium Friday afternoon from the French border and cause ice on roads. The Royal Meteorological Institute predicts freezing rain in all provinces.

The coast and the provinces of West Flanders, Luxembourg and Namur will be affected first, from 1 pm. The area of precipitation will not reach the extreme north-east of the country before the evening, which will cause ice on the roads (yellow alert), Friday afternoon until midnight.

In the south-west of the country, it will mainly be snow, eventually turning into freezing rain. Elsewhere, it will only be snowfall. A layer of one to two centimeters of snow will form in the northeast and will reach five centimeters locally, according to the meteorological institute.
