Kurds in Brussels organise, as of Monday, a week of actions on Luxembourg Square, Brussels, to protest against the violence of Turkish troops towards the Kurdish people in Afrin (Syria). These actions will be held daily from 11 am to 3 pm. Since the Turkish army took the city of Afrin, NayBel – the Kurdish community association in Brussels – fears that the population will become victims of a genocide led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“As long as the aggression goes on, and our families and compatriots continue to die, we will not leave the street. The pressure must be maintained,” says the association. The main objective is to awaken EU and NATO awareness.
“We ask Europe to apply its own rules and to respect democracy. It is the only way that the Kurds will be able to establish their own independent state”, specified a NayBel spokesperson
