Around 15 youngsters attacked three men on the Rue d'Anderlecht, in the centre of Brussels on Sunday. The online publication Bruzz was reporting, on Monday evening, that the attack was of a homophobic nature.

The three men suffered verbal insults, and were subsequently followed, also suffering severe blows. The incident lasted for around two minutes. Witnesses reported that the perpetrators were teenagers living in the neighbourhood.

The Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police confirmed having intervened in a hate crime (a term used in the context of homophobic attacks).

The three victims were slightly injured. The police have no trace of the actual perpetrators. The case is in the hands of the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office.
