Having noted that a wild wolf was found at the beginning of the year, no doubt a lynx was glimpsed and filmed in Flanders at the end of last year. The confirmation has come from the organisation Landschap VZW.

The images were shot on November 3rd, 2017, by two police officers whilst on patrol in Sint-Martens-Voeren, in the province of Limburg. The animal was filmed from a fair distance away and the film sequence of a low quality. Hence the reason why international experts were consulted. After analysing the images, they were inclined to favour its being a lynx.

Landschap VZW has placed an Internet site online, supplying more information about the animal: www.welkomlynx.be. It is a member of the cat family, being between 80 cm to 130 cm long with triangular ears, which are topped off with a tuft of black hair. The animal also has whiskers on its face.
