The Brussels Fire Brigade conducted 115 interventions linked to overnight thunderstorms from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, the service’s spokesman, Walter Derieuw, said on Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
Fire stations received about 600 calls, starting at 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday and conducted some 90 interventions overnight. They did 25 more on Wednesday morning, after residents woke up and saw the damage to their property.
About 80 night-time interventions were related to wind damage, while 10 were flood related. Drains were clogged in four of the capital’s tunnels and a tree fell onto the roof of a school in Ganshoren.
