Parks, cemeteries will be closed on Thursday

Parks and cemeteries managed by the City of Brussels will be closed to the public from noon on Thursday due to the stormy winds forecast by the Royal Meteorological Service (IRM). Parks elsewhere in Brussels-Capital Region, which are run by the Brussels Environment service, will also be closed.

The possibility of reopening the parks and cemeteries will be examined on Friday morning by the competent authorities.

The decision to close roads running through the Bois de la Cambre forest will be announced through the police services, according to the City’s authorities.

The IRM announced that a storm front would pass through Belgium from the south on Thursday, resulting in heavy rains and, in some areas, intense thunderstorms, possibly accompanied by hail.  The national weather service also forecasts more than 20 litres per metre of rain in some locations and the possibility of wind gusts exceeding 90 km/hr.
