Another gathering of “yellow vests” announced for this Saturday in Brussels
Immediate dual wage indexation and an increase of the minimum wage at the poverty line are amongst the demands of “yellow vest” groups on Facebook.

According to news items circulating on social media, some groups of gilets jaunes (or ‘yellow vests’) are calling for a new gathering on Saturday at the Schuman Roundabout in Brussels. However, local police say that they have not received any request for authorisation for the demonstration, as the law demands.

According to one of the Facebook ‘yellow vests’ groups, some are calling for a gathering at 11 a.m. at Schuman Roundabout on Saturday. The demonstration will take place in collaboration with groups from Charleroi, Mons, Liège, Namur, Tournai and Brussels, but also motorcyclists, truck drivers and farmers.

Amongst the demands posted on the Facebook page is pressure for immediate dual wage indexation, an increase of the minimum wage at the poverty line, and the introduction of the right for the people to remove elected representatives, as well as the right for a referendum.

They are also demanding the decrease in excise duties and VAT on electricity, increasing the volume of public transport, participative democracy and the institution of places for expression of citizen power. Their other vital requests are the strengthening of public services, an end to budget cuts and sizeable investment in the fight against tax fraud.

In a pamphlet published on Sunday by the Sudpresse publications, a group of French ‘yellow vests’ is also calling for a demonstration next Saturday outside the European Parliament, to highlight that “social deprivation is a global phenomenon”, and that demonstrating in Brussels “is showing Europeans they should also wear the ‘yellow vests’ to stand up for their rights.”
