Starting February 6, ten minutes maximum will be applied in the drop-off zone at Brussels Airport, the Airport authorities announced Monday. Thirty minutes free parking will also be available in car parks P1, P2 and P3 for those with a Pcard+ parking pass.
A free Pcard+ card can be requested online. Without the card, 30-minute parking will cost 2 euros. This measure aims at de-stressing drivers who drop off or meet passengers. The exact time at which passengers arrive in the arrivals hall may vary, depending on possible passport control, baggage recuperation and claims, and/or customs control, the airport says.
Besides the covered parking, drivers have the use of a drop-off zone, located at the airport’s exit, so they can be quickly on their way. This is reserved for vehicles leaving passengers, and not the opposite, Brussels Airport insists. Abuses were indeed recorded in recent months, particularly during peak periods, when people actually left their car in this zone before proceeding into the arrivals hall.
As of February 6, barriers will be put in place to allow a free ten minutes maximum, once an hour only. A fee will be claimed for any time beyond the ten minutes.
